I am married to my amazing husband, Brian. We are blessed with 5 wonderful children-- Luke, Jesse, Stephen, Naomi and Titus. I was homeschooled and grew up in the country, in a small Swedish community in Washington State. I am the 4th of 10 kids, when I was in my mid twenties my parents adopted 4 children from Ethiopia and then several years later they adopted 2 more from Haiti.When I was 16 I was staying with a family in Oklahoma and the lady was teaching childbirth classes. I was able to sit in on them and knew from that point on that God wanted me to work with women during pregnancy and childbirth. When I was 17 we were living in Montana and I attended my first birth, it was a home birth and I fell in love with birth. I moved to Washington and started apprenticing with a wonderful midwife. After moving back to Montana I have been serving as a Doula.
I love cooking and baking. Or... is it food in general...? I'll have to think about that one! I always swore I wouldn't blog. I didn't have "time" to read blogs, I certainly didn't have time to write one! But somehow I got the idea of posting recipes- which has been wonderful, because now I have my recipe book where ever I go!! I enjoy sewing and artsy crafts and photography is another love. Jack of all Trades and Master of None. That is me. We have an etsy store to fund our kitchen remodel (and make use of my sewing!):
One of my favorite verses is Colossians 3:23 "And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men," "Whatever you do"- that means everything, cooking, cleaning, etc. So, serving my family is a high calling, after all- God is wanting me to do it, to please Him. I try to remember this when I'm cleaning the toilet, but I often forget!
